Sounds like there is a lot of denial going on. It's perhaps similar to members of families who act like there is no abuse, alcoholism, eating disorder etc in the home. I once read a simple definition of a dysfunctional family: "A family where there's a lot of pain and it is covered or avoided. "

Absolutely, in those families it’s a little like no one wants to admit the house got dirty and they watched while it was happening 🙂
